The Landscape Partnership commissioned us to design a modern pergola for their improvements to the Clacton Seafront Gardens. The brief was to design a new structure that reflected the existing traditional Victorian pergolas.

The pergola was created using stainless steel to give it a more contemporary feel and to withstand the corrosive environment. The bright polished roof used twisted bars to be reflective and shimmer like the nearby sea, whilst using the shape and feel of the Victorian pergolas.

The canopies were designed to encourage plants to grow along them, this was achieved through a fabricated net-like structure and a rough shot blasted finish.
This award-winning project helped to successfully reinvigorate the Clacton Seafront area.
